My breast surgery recovery has gone well and I pretty much consider myself healed up. I have one more week 'til it's ok to snowboard and I am celebrating by heading up to Mammoth for a snowboard trip on Dec 29. Yay!
I went to see my oncologist today and everything is good, although, I find it creepy when he talks about the tumor marker values for the month. I mean, I consider myself to be cured... I don't even want to think about the possibility of him telling me that they are high one month. Living in blissful ignorance is great and definitely the way to go. However, he wants me to go for a CT scan soon to see how the nodule on my lung is doing. He found it on my first CT scan a while back and told me that it was probably a scar from an old lung infection but he's also keeping an eye on it just in case.
What else is new? I am on a bit of a plateau with Weight Watchers with all the chocolates and cookies around but I'm still down about 15 lbs. With the help of a recent bout of food poisoning, Doug is down 22 lbs!
I am getting back into cycling after having stopped for the surgery and can't wait for the monsoon rains to stop down here.
Since many people seem to think I had curly hair before the chemo, I have decided to create a three part image showing my hair in 2008, my lack of hair in 2009 and my new curly hair in 2010. Crazy eh? My hairdresser says it will grow back straight again but I'm trying to grow it a bit longer before I get it cut.
Happy New Year everyone!
Wishing you all al happy and healthy year.
Much love,
Maureen
Glad to hear you are feeling good.
ReplyDeleteCute montage of picture, just shows how pretty you looked at all stages.
love Arlene
Great to hear things are going well!! Did you ever fully recover from the disc you blew out ? Happy new year to you as well from Mike and Kathleen in snowy Waterloo!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what happened to me... but I am 95% recovered (painwise) from the herniated disc. I have no pain unless I touch my toes with my legs straight then I have the slightest bit of sciatica. Wierd eh? The oncology nurses think maybe it was the steroids from my chemo that reduced the inflammation. No clue and I'm too lazy to see the orthopeodic surgeon...
ReplyDeleteGreat news Mo! And I think the new hair is adorable!

Mo, I like how you put together the 3 photos. thanks for riding with me yesterday. We will plan on rooting for you during the Counting Coup. I've decided to grow out my hair to donate. Can you suggest an organization?
