If you have been following my Facebook page, you'll have read about how I've been busy training for a bunch of bike races/rides. I had my first race at the beginning of April with the Counting Coup, where in this picture, I am waiting for Dougie to finish.... after me in a 44 mile mountain bike race :-) I was happy with my time and it was a great start for my comeback year! Next up was the Mullholland Challenge, the week after, the first part of a three series of 100 mile+ road rides as part of the King of the Mountains series. Mullholland Challenge went well and I was again pleased with my time. Three weeks later was Breathless Agony, another hard ride but I again was happy with my time. Next up is the Heartbreak Hundred at the end of the month. No rest for the weary though, because I need to keep up the training for the Death Ride on July 9.
But what about my health you say? Oh yeah, that!... well, everything is good. I'm in great health, my blood counts are normal and I really have nothing to report. I continue to see my oncologist every two months and the appointments are as quick as ever.
Lastly, I'm proud to say that I've been chosen to represent my company (Alteryx) on one of their three teams for the Adventure Team Challenge at the end of June in Colorado. The Adventure TEAM Challenge, a three-day, multisport adventure race near Eagle, Colorado, teams able-bodied with disabled athletes to mountain bike, white-water raft, run, zip line, climb and rappel, while navigating the rugged high country wilderness. Our company has three teams participating and we need to raise funds to cover the entry fee. While the fee is applied towards operating a safe race through a rugged high-altitude environment, it also provides scholarships for participating servicemen and women who are disabled, subsidizes participating military teams and helps support future World T.E.A.M. Sports events which include people with disabilities and able bodied participants coming together to demonstrate what is possible when we work together. If you'd like to find out more about the ATC, click here. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to support our team, please email me.
Thanks to everyone for being there for almost two years now since my diagnosis.
I wish you all good health!
Maureen
Having nothing to report on your health is an excellent thing. Let me know about contributing to your team.
